Why become an Au Pair? Which are the advantages?

After the high school or university, young people often don't know what to do next.

We haven't clear idea, because of a lot of reasons, and it depends on our different paths.

Everyone had to make choices, changed plans, changed school and places where to live.

And there's a moment when you feel confused and lost. My advice is: traveling!

But there's also the problem of the money, being afraid of wasting time. Well, a great compromise is: become an Au Pair!

Each State has its own rules about being an Au Pair.

In this website you could see the requirements you need for being an Au Pair in each State. You can also starting your research of a host family through this website, but be careful because the most of the families don't want join in an agency! 

You can do a match without an agency, expect if you want go to the USA.

You can also decide to find a family before contacting an agency!

Now, let's see the advantages of this opportunity:

1. Travel in a different country;
2. Improve your ability with children;
3. Make new friends from all the world;
4. Take educational courses (if you want);
5. Experience a new way of life;
6. Share your culture with another family;
7. Improve your English (or other language) skills.

I think this is a chance that happens only once in a lifetime. And if you can, you have to take it at once!

There are also disadvantages, but I like to call them "challenges": you will live far from home, you will fight against the homesick (call your Au Pair friends that can understand you very well), you could feel not really part of your host family, you can feel tired to work so much.

My big advice is: fight. Growing up! Thinking every minute, every moment that you are so lucky to have this opportunity, you don't have to waste it. Try to enjoy your new life, your new friends, and try to move on with the problems. Talk with your host family (which you have to choice carefully), they are your new reference point if you need anything! 

Don't be afraid to talk! You must!

I decided to insert a family picture for a reason. Being an Au Pair doesn't mean only taking care of children, it's also being part of a new, wonderful, family!

So, be strong if you want change your present and create your future. Take a deep breathe and leaving for a new adventure!

Perché diventare un Au Pair? Quali sono i vantaggi?

Dopo la scuola superiore o l'università i giovani spesso non sanno quali passi compiere. Non si hanno le idee chiare, a causa di vari motivi che dipendono dai diversi percorsi intrapresi.
Ognuno ha dovuto fare delle scelte, cambiare progetti, scuole e città.
E c'è un momento in cui ci si sente confusi e persi. Il mio consiglio è: viaggiare!

Purtroppo ci si pone il problema del denaro insufficiente, o di aver paura di perdere tempo. Sicuramente un ottimo compromesso è: diventare un Au Pair!
Ogni Stato ha le proprie regole per diventare una ragazza alla pari.

In questo sito potete vedere i requisiti necessari per essere un Au Pair in ciascuno Stato. Se volete, potete anche iniziare da subito la ricerca di una host family tramite questo sito web, ma attenzione perché la maggior parte delle famiglie non vogliono passare tramite un'agenzia!
Ma si può benissimo fare il match senza agenzia, questa regola non è valida nel caso in cui si voglia partire per gli Stati Uniti.

Si può anche decidere di trovare prima una famiglia e poi contattare l'agenzia!

Ora, vediamo i vantaggi di quest'opportunità:

1. Viaggiare in un paese diverso;
2. Migliorare le tue abilità con i bambini;
3. Fare nuove amicizie provenienti da tutto il mondo;
4. Partecipare a corsi di formazione (se si vuole);
5. Provare un nuovo modo di vivere;
6. Condividere la tua cultura con un'altra famiglia;
7. Migliorare il tuo inglese (o un'altra lingua).

Penso che questa sia una possibilità che capita solo una volta nella vita. E se si ha l'occasione, la si deve cogliere al volo!
Ci sono anche degli svantaggi, ma mi piace chiamarli "sfide": vivere lontano da casa, combattere contro la nostalgia di casa (chiamate i vostri amici Au Pair che sono in grado di capirvi molto bene), potreste non sentirvi realmente parte della vostra famiglia ospitante, ci si può sentire stanchi di lavorare così tanto.
Il mio grande consiglio è: lottate. Crescete! Pensate ogni minuto, ogni momento che siete così fortunati ad avere questa opportunità da non doverla sprecare.
Provate a godersi la vostra nuova vita, i nuovi amici, e cercate di superare i problemi che vi si presentano. Parlate con la famiglia ospitante (che si deve scegliere con attenzione), sono il vostro nuovo punto di riferimento se avete bisogno di qualsiasi cosa!
Non abbiate paura di parlare! Dovete farlo!
Ho deciso di inserire una foto di famiglia per un motivo. Essere un Au Pair non significa solo prendersi cura dei bambini, significa anche far parte di una nuova, meravigliosa, famiglia!

Quindi, siate forti se volete cambiare il presente e creare il vostro futuro. Fate un respiro profondo e partite per una nuova avventura!
